The Pop Shelves were a collaborative design project with my design studio 'The Mighty Bearcats'.
Out of frustration with the stress of frequently moving from apartment to apartment in Chicago, we decided to create a shelving system that was very functional while in use but while in transit almost disappears.
These shelves are assembled using one rigid layer and one flexible layer to create a solid structure with two "living hinges". They are installed almost effortlessly and and are just as easily de-installed and packed flat.
The Pop Shelf got an honorable mention at the Modern Design Function competition at Design Within Reach in Chicago.
